Hello!

First of all, I want to congratulate and thank you for the amazing work on SoundShow. I primarily use it for running TTRPGs, both online and in-person, and it's an incredibly powerful tool.

After using it extensively, I've identified a few areas that, I believe, could be improved to make it even better. Here are my suggestions:

  • Folder/Subcategory System: It would be fantastic to have the ability to create "folders" or "subcategories." This would serve two main purposes: firstly, to better organize and categorize sounds within a project, and secondly, to allow for the direct import of a folder from the computer, which would automatically create a category with all the sounds inside.
  • Independent Playlists: Currently, when multiple playlists are active, they seem to merge into a single playback queue. It would be extremely helpful to have an option to treat each playlist independently. For example, to be able to pause one playlist (like background music) and later resume it from the exact point it was stopped, without affecting other playing sounds or playlists.
  • Restore "Infinite Loop Until Next" in Instructions: A feature seems to have been lost in the Instructions function: the ability for a sound to loop indefinitely until the "go" button within that group was pressed. For users like myself who structure tracks into "blocks" (e.g., an intro, a main loop, an outro), this was a critical feature. Would it be possible to restore this functionality?
  • Self-Contained Project Export: The ability to export an entire project into a single, self-contained folder with all audio files and relative paths would be a game-changer for portability. This would make it easy to work on a project on one computer (like a desktop PC) and seamlessly transfer it to another (like a laptop for a live session).
  • Reusing Sound/Project Configurations: I believe this has been requested before, but I want to emphasize its utility. A feature to save and reuse sound configurations (like fade-in/out, volume, etc.) as templates, or to easily copy sounds with their settings between projects, would save a tremendous amount of repetitive setup time.

Thank you again for creating such a wonderful tool. I hope this feedback is helpful!

Hello,
Sorry for the very late answer and thank you the detailed feedback!
Subcategory: This could be nice. As a workaround, currently you could use Tags on your sounds (To add the same tag to multiple items, you can select multiple button at the same time with check box on the button and then press to open the edit popup).
.  Independent playlist: This as been added in the recent versions of Sound Show. You can now have multiple tabs in the playlist panel with different playlists loaded at the same time.
Infinite Loop: I don't remember changing anything about that. To have infinite loop you can put the loop field at -1, I'm not sure if pressing next would allow to break out of the loop.
Self-Contained Project Export: if you click "Project" on the menu bar, you will find an "Export" button that does exactly what you describe.
. Share settings: Yes, I still need to work on an export/import settings feature. There are also some questions about what settings are relative to a Project and should be saved directly in the project and what settings are global.
Thank you for the detailed post!
